AquaFIT Profile

Class Description
AquaFIT is an aerobic fitness class taught in the pool. You’ll get a little bit of everything in this high-intensity class, including a cardiovascular workout and strength training. AquaFIT is a great class option for those who are looking for a unique, challenging workout that’s easier on the joints.

Recommended Skill Level

Intermediate to Advanced. This is a high-level aerobic class, so be ready to work hard and have fun! If you’re looking for an introductory aquatics class, try Aqua Wave first.

Class Type

Aquatics: This class takes place in the pool at our aquatics center. It’s a great cardiovascular and strength-building exercise class. The water is relaxing but also adds a unique challenge to the workout.

Class Breakdown

This hour-long class takes place in our aquatics center. Our experienced instructor will lead the class throughout various exercises, all in both the shallow and deep areas of the pool. In order to take this class you will need to feel comfortable in the water, but you won’t actually be doing any traditional swimming. Throughout the class, you’ll use different equipment, including pool noodles, kickboards, and aquatic weights.

You’ll begin with a warm-up – an activity designed specifically to get your heart pumping and your muscles ready for more work. The rest of the class consists of exercises that target different muscle groups. From underwater jogging to lunges and curls, this class has a bit of everything. Although it’s a great cardiovascular workout the whole time, you won’t notice that you’re sweating because you’re in the water. At the end, there’s a cool-down to help you transition from the end of class and back into your day.

Class Benefits

AquaFIT is an aerobic and conditioning class, so you’ll notice both increased endurance and strength as a benefit. However, unlike other aerobics classes, you might notice less strain on your body, especially your joints – that’s because the force of gravity is reduced while you’re in a pool. AquaFIT will challenge you and help you get stronger but won’t be as hard on your body.

Why AquaFIT?
It is the perfect option for those looking for a high-intensity, low-impact workout. Instead of repeatedly feeling the impact of a classroom floor, the reduced gravity and buoyancy in the water will save your joints from that extra strain. If you’re recovering from an injury, suffering from joint pain, or just want to add in a low-impact workout to your weekly routine, this class is for you.

The water is an essential component of your success in AquaFIT, it also provides increased resistance – so you can work harder without feeling too sore afterwards.

Class Schedule

AquaFIT is offered multiple times each week. For more information, check out our current schedule of classes above.
